Fusing tight guitar riffs with sparse, airy vocals, courtesy of frontwomen Phoebe Baker, Melbourne six-piece Alpine craft a variety of indie pop that both radiates a reverb-glossed too-cool-to-care vibe in songs like Gasoline, whilst leaking tones alluding to a more sombre, but no less compelling affair, in offerings such as Villages. The Australian soundsmith's 2012 debut album of self-described 'twinkling, sexy and sophisticated pop music', released through Ivy League Records, is available now.
