Catch of the Day: Grandma's Tea Party

Discovered after they were featured on the front page of Swedish file-sharing site The Pirate Bay, in connection with their sister-site The Promo Bay, the Norwegian Grandma's Tea Party are testament to the fact that sites like the Pirate Bay needn't be the slayers of the music industry they are so often proclaimed to be; often offering much-needed exposure to fledgling artists. The six-piece who describe themselves as liking as appreciating 'tea, old people and the environment' craft early noughties indie rock sound akin to bands like Elefant both vocally and through their jangly energetic guitar melodies in their debut single A Wiseman Told Me. In other offerings like Lyrebird Song their sound is tinged with sparkling guitar arpeggios and brass-work that hark to the likes of a a Genuine Freakshow.
Their debut EP Vestiges is out now and available to download from iTunes.
