With a sound that lies somewhere between late Vampire Weekend and Cloud Control with a pinch of Freelance Whales, Winnipeg six-piece Royal Canoe's brand of guitar-fuelled indie pop sets out to both 'move people and make people move' and their mix of expansive vocal layers with fun guitar and keyboard melodies certainly acheieves the latter. The groups eponymous debut EP (unless it's actualy called 'Extended Play', which would be insufferably meta) dropped last May, and is certainly worth a listen on Bandcamp.
