Catch of the Day: Painted Palms

Forging psych-tinged pop fresh out of San Francisco, Painted Palms flavour of vocal-centric guitar-driven indie rock is awash with moreish melodies, swirling arpeggios, and infectious vocal refrains that, in songs like Soft Hammer, cross over into territory so swathed in sun-kissed sixties pop sensibilities that you have to wonder whether the two-man collective is in fact a moniker for Brian Wilson's new solo-project. Cousins Reese Donohue and Christopher Prudhomme behind the duo dropped their first LP Forever earlier this week which, together with their EPs Nothing Lasts Long and Canopy, is available for your listening and purchasing pleasure on their Bandcamp page and is perhaps the perfect way to shake off the winter shackles and kick start 2014.
